Aviation News PIA Serene Air Shaheen Air

Turkish Aircrafts are favourite for Pakistani airlines

Airbus A319 of Shaheen Air

Pakistan International Airlines is the latest Pakistani airline to acquire a Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-302 on wet lease. Recently Shaheen acquired Airbus A319s from Turkey while Serene got 2 Boeing 737-800s from Turkey. So we thought to track down all Pakistani active fleet and dig down how many aircrafts are flying in Pakistan that were owned by airlines in Turkey.

Due to recent coup and economic downturn in Turkish economy airlines in Turkey are struggling to maintain large fleets of aircrafts. Turkish airlines spared over 30 aircrafts that were offered to other airlines because the demand shrunk on various routes. On the other hand there is demand in Pakistani aviation sector that took advantage of this opportunity by leasing these aircrafts on dry and wet lease.

In coming days more aircrafts from Turkey are set to join Pakistani airlines with Shaheen expected to take deliveries of remaining Airbus A319s.
