PIA operates first flight to Najaf in Iraq

PIA commences flight operations to Najaf, Iraq. The first flight to Najaf PK219 took off from Jinnah International Airport Karachi on Thursday night, making PIA the first Pakistani airline after years to have direct three weekly flights to Iraq from Karachi. These flights will provide convenient connectivity with through check-in for passengers traveling from major cities of Pakistan.Top PIA officials came to the airport to greet the passengers before departure of the flight at Jinnah International Airport Karachi.

PIA will operate three weekly flights from Karachi to Najaf every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with connections from major cities of Pakistan at convenient timings. On the inaugural flight PIA used single class Airbus A320 aircraft with registration AP-BLW.

It will be a challenge for PIA flight operations to keep up these connections. But this route is result of the vision of some dedicated PIA staff and Bernd Hildenbrand who planned to focus heavily on religious pilgrims. Bernd even planned about dedicating two Boeing 777 or a fleet for Umra and Ziyarat.
