Pakistan International Airlines has released the final bid evaluation report for the tender issued on 29 September 2017 for 4 narrowbody aircrafts. In total 10 planes were presented for the evaluation. Out of 10 PIA rejected 4 aircrafts and accepted 6 of them. Eventually, PIA will select 4 aircraft out of the select 6 for induction into its fleet. PIA is currently using 4 Airbus A320 aircraft of Vietjet on wet lease basis and it is the second such induction as earlier PIA used 4 Boeing 737-800 of Turkish low-cost giant Pegasus for a short period of time. This stop-gap arrangement has serious implications on the operations of PIA but passengers, as well as PIA officials, want to have a permanent solution to this. That is why bids were invited for 4 narrow body aircraft. As a result, 3 leasing companies participated in the bidding process.
4 Vietjet Airbus A320s join PIA fleet
Bid for the following aircraft was accepted:
1- Airbus A320-200 with MSN 2902, age 11.2 years and it is currently stored.
This aircraft was first delivered to Austrian low cost airline Niki on 26/10/2006 with 180 all economy configuration. It was registered as OE-LEU. The plane is powered by 2 CFM-56-5 Engines. After almost 10.5 years the plane was delivered to Airberlin on 02/01/2017 with the same configuration of 180 all economy seats having the same 2 CFM 56-5 Engines. It is currently stored as a result of the collapse of Air Berlin.
The aircraft got the highest marks in Bid evaluation report with Technical marks of 29.4 and financial marks of 50, hence a total of 79.4 marks.
2- Airbus A321-200 with Sharlets, MSN 6639 and age 2.5 years and it is currently stored.
This plane was delivered to Airberlin on 29/06/2015 with 210 all-economy configurations. It was registered as D-ABCQ for Air Berlin. The plane is powered by 2 CFM-56-5 Engines. After a year the plane was re-registered as HB-JOX for Belair on 2 May 2017 with the same configuration of 210 all economy seats having the same 2 CFM 56-5 Engines. Throughout this period the plane remained a property of Irish leasing company Avalon.
The aircraft got the technical marks of 40.3 and financial marks of 22.6 hence a total of 62.9 marks.
3- Airbus A321-200 with Sharklets, MSN 6979 and age 1.8 years and it is currently stored.
This plane was delivered to Austrian low cost airlines Niki on07/03/2016 with 210 all economy configuration. It was registered as OE-LNZ. The plane is powered by 2 CFM-56-5 Engines. The aircraft is currently stored and is property of Avalon leasing company of Ireland.
This plane got the technical marks of 38.9 and financial marks of 18.8 hence a total of 57.7 marks.
4- Airbus A320-232, MSN 3127 and age 10.6 years and it is currently active
This plane was delivered to Hungarian Lowcost Airlines Wizz Air on 21/10/2005 in 180 all economy configuration. It was registered as HA-LPG. The plane is powered by 2 IAE V2527-A5 Engines. On 26/12/2005 the plane shifted to Wizz Air Bulgaria with registration LZ-WZA. On 22/04/2011 the plane was acquired by private Turkish operator Onur Air and got registration TC-OBN. Then it was taken over by Russian airline Yamal Airlines and received registration VQ-BWZ.
This plane got the technical marks of 23.4 and financial marks of -30.0 hence a total of -6.6 marks.
5- Airbus A320-232, MSN 3143 and age 10.6 years and it is currently active.
This aircraft was delivered to Hungarian Lowcost Airlines Wizz Air in May 2007 with 180 all-economy configurations. It received registration HA-LPK. The plane is powered by 2 IAE V2527-A5 Engines. The aircraft is currently active and is owned by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) serving with Wizz Air.
This plane got the technical marks of 22.7 and financial marks of -30.3 hence a total of -7.6 marks.
6- Airbus A320-232, MSN 5128 and 5.6 years and it is currently active.
This aircraft was delivered to Jordanian carrier, Royal Jordanian in May 2012 with 120 economy and 16 business class seating configuration. It was registered as JY-AYU and the plane is powered by 2 IAE V2527-A5 Engines. The aircraft is currently active with Royal Jordanian and is owned by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE).
This plane got the technical marks of 29.7 and financial marks of -72.3 hence a total of -42.6 marks.
The following 4 planes were rejected in the bidding process:
- 5367 -A320 (DAE).
- 5371 -A320 (DAE).
- 4502 -A320 (SCB).
- 4541 -A320 (SCB).
All the 04 were rejected because of not meeting the tender requirement as all of their delivery dates were not fulfilling the tender dates.
