PIA sells 5 old Airbus A310 engines

After multiple attempts, several tenders and multiple scandals PIA has sold 5 engines of its redundant Airbus A310 engines. These planes were sitting idle at Karachi airport after PIA retired these aircrafts last year in December 2016.PIA has fetched more than Rs. 27 crores from sale of these idle unserviceable engines of A310 aircraft already grounded.

According to PIA statement the airline “PPRA rules and regulations were followed in the disposal of these engines with complete transparency.”

These 5 engines were nearly 25-30 years old. PIA issued tender advertisements for this purpose in National and International Dailies.

The proceeds from the sale of these 05 engines will be utilized by PIA Engineering Division to enhance the capability and development of infrastructure of the Engineering Department.
