Islamabad International Airport starts regular flights operation

Islamabad’s newest international gateway has opened its doors for international and domestic airlines that started flights today. Two days after its inauguration, the new Islamabad International Airport (IIA) has become operational. The national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) operated 31 flights from the new airport while operating 14 flights from the old airport. Although it has now shifted operations completely to new Islamabad airport.Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on May 1 had inaugurated the new airport. The new airport also welcomed Saudi Arabian Airlines, Airblue, Shaheen flights and passengers were overwhelmed by the new airport. Airblue started its flight operation with PA201 from Islamabad to Karachi that arrived from Karachi earlier. Airblue presented all the passengers’ giveaways before departure.

Khan, Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Asif Karim, Director Corporate Safety & Security, Mr. Shaukat Ibrahim, Director MIS, Mr. Taimur Hassan, Director Flight Operations, Mr. Zahid Qadeer, Director Engineering, Mr. Jawad Butt, Director Marketing, Ms. Rabiya Riaz & Director Sales, Mr. Faheem Hamid and all head of departments with their teams were at the airport to celebrate this historic day.
