CAA director wrongly informs Supreme Court that Shahid Khaqan owns Airblue

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar was told by Nasir Ali Shah who is a director at CAA that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is the CEO of Airblue. Chief Justice upon this remarked that this is a conflict of interest but summoned the Prime Minister in the capacity of CEO of Airblue. The chief justice gave the directions while heading a three-member bench hearing the Suo Motu case related to fake degrees of airline employees.

In the hearing the court observed that the complete data from all airlines have still not been submitted to the court, adding that the CEOs should explain this, at the next hearing. The CAA official informed the court that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Shaheen Airlines have provided the required data. While Airblue and Serene Air has to submit data.

The court was informed that data of 225 staffers have been received and out of that 108 degrees have been verified. The court was informed that 24 pilots’ degrees have been discovered to be fake.
