Former PIA MD and Chairman Chaudhary Ahmed Saeed passes away

The former chairman and managing director of Pakistan international airlines Choudhry Ahmad Saeed has passed away. He died Saheb, Ex MD/Chairman PIA. His dead body will be flown to Lahore from Karachi on PIA flight PK302. His funeral will be held at Forman Christain College ground Lahore at 4 pm tomorrow (29/10/18). 

Chaudhry Ahmad Saeed was currently serving as the chairman of Servis Industries group, a Pakistan-based conglomerate dealing in manufacturing and retailing of footwear and textiles. He was also active in politics contesting in elections from Gujrat.  His brother Chaudhary Ahmad Mukhtar served as minister of defence during Pakistan Peoples Party government between 2008 and 2012.

In 2001 the government of military dictator General Pervez Musharraf appointed Ahmed Saeed as the Managing Director of Pakistan International Airlines on a two years contract that was later extended. Later in February 2003, he was appointed as the Chairman of the PIA with immediate effect. In 2005 then prime minister Shaukat Aziz appointed his longtime friend Tariq Kirmani as the chairman of PIA replacing Ahmed Saeed. Apart from PIA he also served as the chairman of another troubled government entity known as Zarai Taqiti Bank limited.
