PIA station manager in London abruptly sent back to Pakistan

The Pakistan International Airline’s station manager in London Sajidullah Khan has received the notification of transfer from London to Karachi on Wednesday afternoon. It comes after an intense war of words between his brother former federal minister and Senator Mushahidullah Khan and Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary. Sajiduallah has termed it “political victimisation” by the PTI government.

Sajidullah told Murtaza Ali Shah of Jang group “I have been transferred back to Pakistan without the PIA head office sending the replacement to London just to victimize me because I am the brother of Senator Mushahidullah Khan. It is the example of the worst political victimization of the PTI government. It’s the party that came into power on the promise that it will not interfere in matters of institutions but I have been singled out by the government after being maligned in maligned in the parliament by the Information Minister on false grounds.”

Information minister Fawad Chaudhary accused senator Mushahidullah Khan of nepotism and favouritism against his family. He also accused that Mushahidullah inducted his brothers and female members of the family in PIA and that they got undue promotions by using political influence. Sajidullah challenged the information minister to take him to court where he said he will prove that he was appointed illegally.

In response, Sajidullah said: “The fact is Senator Mushahidullah joined PIA in 1975 and the other three brothers Mr Majidullah Khan, Rashidullah Khan joined PIA in the 1970s when Senator Mushahidullah Khan was not in politics nor even Nawaz Sharif. All of them are retired from the service except myself and I am going to be retired in a few years.

Sajidullah Khan joined pia in 1988 as trainee officer following the PIA policy of induction of MBAs and MPAs. Sajidullah was posted in Birmingham as a station manager for three years. He has served five years of his tenure in foreign posting, instead of three years.

One of his bother Rashidullah Khan joined the airline in June 1978 as a traffic assistant and worked his way up as a deputy general manager of the commercial department in 2007. Rashidullah was then nominated as a country manager in New York and retired from PIA in August 2016.

His cousin Mutiullah and brother-in-law Ahmed Nadeem Pasha are also PIA employees. Senator Mushahidullah joined the PIA in February 1990 and resigned in May 1997 as a passenger service supervisor.

In July 2013 Rashidullah Khan and Sajidullah Khan were promoted from Grade 8 to 9 (manager to deputy general manager) and Grade 7 to 8 (assistant manager to manager) respectively with effect from 2007.
