Air vice marshal retired Najam ul Asar takes charge as acting COO of Shaheen

Former additional secretary ministry of defence and retired air vice marshal of Pakistan airforce Najam ul Asar has been appointed as the acting COO of Shaheen Air International. After months of speculations and rumours yesterday suddenly a flurry of activities started at Shaheen headquarters. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that new management appointees are joining office. Today AVM Najam ul Asar took office.

AVM Najam was born in 1957, and he received his early education at Khanewal and Mirpur Azad Kashmir. He joined Pakistan Air Force in Sept 1973 and graduated from PAF Academy, Risalpur in Oct 1978. After doing his Fighter and Operational Conversion Courses, he initially flew F-6 and MIG-19 aircraft and later different types of American, Franch and Chinese fighter aircraft on PAF inventory. He is an accomplished fighter pilot with rich experience on F-6 and F-7. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and has been an instructor at basic flying training wing, PAF Academy, Risalpur and No.1 FCU Mianwali. He commanded an elite Fighter Squadron, a Fighter Wing and a Fighter Base.

On the other hand Air Commodore (retired) Taher Mahmood has been appointed Acting Director Engineering Shaheen Air. He has not taken charge of his position yet. We normally don’t speculate but there are a lot of Shaheen officials who are saying in private forums that a takeover is in progress with the backing of an investor from Saudi Arabia.
