Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777 that was grounded in Oslo on 6 February due to engine issues is brought back. The aircraft AP-BHX operating flight PK 752 developed fault in its engine after reaching Oslo from Lahore on February 6. The aircraft couldn’t take off for return journey due to a technical fault in its engine.
The local airline’s technical staff was approached, but they refused to work after the initial checking. The reason given was heavy snowfall and severe winter in Oslo which was much below freezing point.

Though, PIA’s engineering team in Pakistan advised the foreign engineers for 3 to 4 hours to help them understand and rectify the problem. But upon refusal by them, PIA’s engineering team flew to Oslo from Pakistan to sort out this technical issue. They along with necessary equipment boarded PK757 for London via Oslo. The engine fault was rectified by PIA engineers in 3 to 4 hours under extreme weather conditions.
After a delay of 0ver 30 hours the grounded aircraft took off for its return flight via Copenhagen on February 8. Meanwhile, more than 200 passengers of this flight were provided with hotel accommodation by the airline. PIA operates weekly one flight PK-751 on Lahore to Oslo route that goes to Copenhagen from Oslo and then returns to Lahore.
According to PIA spokesperson the CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik, on this extraordinary and beyond the call of duty performance, has appreciated engineers, PIA Oslo Manager and Ground Handling staff with special commendations.
