Imran Khan to lay foundation stone of the New Gwadar International Airport today

Prime Minister Imran Khan will lay stone of the new Gwadar International Airport on Friday after the delay of 14 plus years. The new airport, which will have the latest equipment and facilities, will be one of the country’s largest airports.

The New Airport at Gwadar is being built with 260 million dollars and it will be big enough to accommodate the Super Jumbo Airbus A380. Second Pakistani airport to handle the superjumbo after Islamabad International airport.

The money for the construction of this airport is provided by the Chinese government as a grant under the China Pakistan economic corridor. This project was announced in 2016 under Nawaz Government and basic work for the airport has already begun. The project work will enter its next phase after the foundation stone laying ceremony.

According to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Secretariat the project design and feasibility study work already have been completed. Location of the new airport is 26 kilometres away in the north-east from the existing Gwadar International Airport. 3,000 acres of land has been identified for the construction of new Gwadar International Airport.
