British passenger fined for smoking on PIA flight

Receipt of fine paid by passenger at Islamabad international airport

Pakistan International Airlines has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on a British passenger flying from Birmingham to Islamabad, Pakistan. The captain of the flight imposed this fine after the crew onboard caught the passenger smoking in the lavatory of airline’s flight PK792. The incident took place on 9 December. The aircraft was airborne when the passenger used lavatory for smoking.

The passenger in question is Raza Ahsun, who is a British citizen. According to PIA, it is the first time ever the airline has imposed the fine and got the money out of his pocket. Upon arrival, the passenger’s passport was confiscated and he was told to pay the fine in order to get his passport back. the fine was paid. The passenger eventually paid the amount and got his passport back.
