A government of Pakistan owned vintage de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver crashed near Bahawalpur early in the morning today. The plane is owned by the Department of Plant Protection under the Ministry of National Food Security & Research. The department has two de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beavers with registrations AP-AMA and AP-AMB. There are graphic images of the post-crash situation being shared on social media which shows the plane broke up in two.

The aircraft was flying in South Punjab and Sindh province after recent Locust attack as its primary duty is crop dusting. The aircraft took off from Rahim Yar Khan and crashed near Sadiqabad. Captain Shoaib and AME Fawad Butt were flying the plane and both lost their lives in this sad accident. Fawad Butt worked as an engineer in Shaheen Air international.
This aircraft was manufactured in Canada but there is no date available at this point. It was delivered to Pakistan in 1960. Its Construction number is 1415 and it was registered in Pakistan as AP-AMA on January 6, 1960. The aircraft later arrived in Pakistan on February 19, 1960.
