Pakistan International Airlines advertised for the position of new Chief Operating Officer but within two days the job description has been changed and PIA is rife with rumours that this is to appoint a favourite to this important position. Two days ago advertisements were placed in national newspapers and the 57-year age requirement as per the national carrier’s policy was done away with. Interestingly the new advertisement was changed from 20 years in the first advertisement to 15 years in the following advertisement.
This surprise doesn’t stop here and the second advertisement only listed aviation experience as a requirement for the position, although the initial advertisement had listed experience in a large organisation’s senior managerial marketing and sales role as a mandatory requirement for the job.
According to various PIA sources these changes are brought in to adjust a pilot who has worked on senior positions and is also a batch mate of senior official at aviation division. The said pilot worked on senior positions in PIA but was retired on 16th of March. This is exactly the mafia that is destroying PIA as interior minister referred to yesterday.
