Salam Air, Omani budget airline has started operations to its 3rd destination in Pakistan on February 8, 2018. The inaugural flight from Muscat took off at 23:55 and in Multan at 3:30. The return flight departed from Multan at 4:50, and arrived back in Muscat at 6:35. Multan will complement the airline’s current flights to Sialkot and Karachi.

Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of SalamAir, said: “the addition of Multan to our destinations will allow us to better serve our guests, and cater to rising number of business and leisure travellers. The Pakistani community makes up about 13% of the local expatriates working in Oman, it is, therefore, no surprise that this route has been one of the highest in demand. We have worked very hard with the authorities to ensure that our flight timings will allow our guests to conveniently connect to other destinations including Dubai, Doha, Jeddah and Salalah via Muscat.”

Multan International Airport received Salam Air’s the latest destination for the airlines. Salam air will operate 3 flights a week to Multan from Muscat. This is the 9th international airlines to start operations at the airport. SalamAir has partnered up with Gerry’s Group as their local partners and representatives in Pakistan to ensure smooth progression and growth.

The CEO added: “We are proud to have become the preferred airline for Pakistanis travelling for Umrah. In just a few months, we have flown over 30,000 passengers to and from Pakistan and that is only the beginning. We have bigger plans ahead.”

According to Captain Mohamed Ahmed, the airline is exploring other underserved destinations in Pakistan including Islamabad, Lahore and Faisalabad, as well as increasing its flight frequencies on current routes. With the addition of Multan, SalamAir’s network today also includes Muscat, Salalah, Suhar, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Multan, Karachi and Sialkot.

Addition of Salam air will bring in healthy competition on Muscat-Multan route as Shaheen Air operates on this route currently. SalamAir will now have nine out of a total 67 weekly flights between Pakistan and Oman. With Oman Air operating 30 flights while SalamAir operates 9 flights, Pakistan International Airline operates 16 flights, Shaheen Air operates 10, and Air Blue operates 2 flights.
