Pakistan’s second-largest airline Airblue has decided to ground two of its pilots after receiving the instructions from the Aviation Division in view of flight safety and security concerns. Minister of Aviation in a speech in parliament spoke about the issues in the pilot licensing issues. After that in a press conference, he shared the lists of pilots and also retracted his original words of “fake licenses’.

The Aviation Division, Government of Pakistan, has provided names of 2 Airblue Pilots, 1 Captain and 1 First Officer, who are suspected of having used unfair means in their Airline Transport Pilots License (ATPL) examinations conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority. Airblue said in a statement that both these pilots have been grounded with immediate effect till the completion of formal proceedings under the Civil Aviation Rules, 1994.

According to the statement, the CAA will provide an opportunity to both these pilots under the Civil Aviation Rules to clarify their position. Airblue is currently employing 87 Pilots that include 43 Captains and 44 First Officers.

As per the instructions of the Aviation Division in view of flight safety and security concerns, both these pilots have been grounded with immediate effect till the completion of formal proceedings under the Civil Aviation Rules, 1994. The CAA will provide an opportunity to both these pilots under the Civil Aviation Rules to clarify their position.

Flight safety is the primary concern for Airblue and the airline remains committed to meeting all international standards of airline flight operations.
