PIA CEO visits ramp and food services division

Pakistan International Airline CEO, Mr. Bernd Hildenbrand visited the Ramp Services and Food Services divisions of the airline here this afternoon. Brushing off attempts to sideline him by certain quarters Bernd has been even more visible and active. 

During the visit he inspected the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and passenger transport vehicles refurbished by PIA, using indigenous resources, saving millions to the airline.

Talking to senior PIA management on this occasion the CEO expressed the satisfaction that during the last one year PIA has added 24 new GSE which include AC vans, baggage belts, ambu-lifters and hi-lifters, while four Ground Power Units are on their way. In addition, renovation of old equipment is also being done using airline’s indigenous resources.

He said an airline is not only the aircraft and ground equipment is its integral part but unfortunately PIA’s current ground equipment is mostly over 25 years old and no investment was done for many years. Thats is why, he said, it is very important that all existing equipment is taken good care of so that it serves the airline well in the months and years to come.

The CEO was pleased to note that a lot of improvements have been brought about in the working of these divisions. He said work is being done in the right direction but there’s still a long way to go.

Mr. Hildenbrand asked the management to ensure improved efficiency in their respective departments, particularly focusing on cleaning and maintenance of ground support equipment. He also visited different areas of maintenance facility.

The CEO particularly appreciated the steps taken in the Catering division during last one year to organize its work and to ensure cleanliness of premises and hygiene of food.

‎پی آئی اے کے چیف ایگزیکٹو آفیسر برنڈ ہلڈن برانڈ نے آج پی آئی اے ریمپ سروس اور فوڈ سروس ڈویژنز کا دورہ کیا۔ دورے کے دوران انہوں نے گراؤنڈ سروس مشینری اور مسافروں کے استعمال کی گاڑیوں کا معائنہ کیا جنہیں پی آئی اے نے اپنے وسائل سے دوبارہ سے تیار کر کے لاکھوں روپوں کی بچت کی ہے ۔

‎اس موقع پر پی آئی اے کی سینئر انتظامیہ سے گفتگو کے دوران کارکردگی پر اپنے اطمینان کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پی آئی اے نے پچھلے ایک سال کے دوران گراؤنڈ سروس کیلئے استعمال ہونے والی 24 نئی گاڑیوں کا اضافہ کیا ہے جن میں اے سی وینز، بیگج بیلٹ، ایمبو لفٹر اور ہائی لفٹر شامل ہیں جبکہ طیاروں کیلئےچار گراؤنڈ پاور یونٹس بھی جلد اس میں شامل ہو جائیں گے۔ اس کے علاوہ پرانی مشینری کی اوورہالنگ بھی پی آئی اے کے اپنے وسائل کو استعمال کرتے ہوئے کی جارہی ہے۔
‎انہوں نے کہا کہ ائر لائن میں طیاروں کے ساتھ ساتھ گراؤنڈ مشینری بھی نہایت اہمیت کی حامل ہوتی ہے لیکن بدقسمتی سے پی آئی اے کا یہ لازمی جزو 25 سال سے زائد پرانا ہے اورا س سلسلے میں گزشتہ کئی سالوں سے سرمایہ کاری نہیں کی گئی ۔ اس لئے ضروری ہے کہ موجودہ اور نئی مشینری کی حفاظت کی جائے تا کہ یہ آنے والے مہینوں اور سالوں میں ائر لائن کو سروس فراہم کرتی رہے۔
‎چیف ایگزیکٹو آفیسر نے گزشتہ ایک سال میں دونوں ڈویژنز کی کارکردگی میں مثبت تبدیلیوں پر اطمینان کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ گو کام درست سمت میں کیا جا رہا ہے لیکن ابھی بہتری کی بہت گنجائش موجود ہے۔
‎ہلڈن برانڈ نے انتظامیہ پر زور دیا کہ کہ وہ اپنے شعبہ جات کی کارکردگی میں مزید بہتری لائیں اور خاص طور پر گراؤنڈ سپورٹ کی مشینری کی دیکھ بھال پر خصوصی توجہ دی جائے۔
‎انہوں بالخصوص پچھلے ایک سال کے دوران کیٹرنگ ڈویژن میں صفائی اور حفظان صحت کے اصولوں کے تحت مسافروں کیلئے معیاری کھانوں کی تیاری پر شعبہ کی نمایاں کارکردگی کو سراہا ۔چیف ایگزیکٹو آفیسر نے مختلف شعبہ جات میں مینٹینس کی سہولیات کا بھی معائنہ کیا۔
