Pakistan International Airlines will operate three weekly flights from Karachi to Bangkok, Thailand commencing from September 16, 2017. PIA started planing this route back in days when Bernd Hildenbrand was running the airline and this route was part of his expansion strategy. Bangkok will be 50th destination on PIA’s route network. This was announced at the PIA Head Office on finalisation of all arrangements for the commencement of operation. Bangkok destination is the second addition to PIA network in the month of September; the airline already announced commencement of flights to Najaf from 14th September 2017. PIA is planing to use Airbus A320 aircraft on the route.
Once again PIA is adding hub strategy with this route where flights will be operated to Bangkok with connections to be provided to passengers traveling from other major cities of Pakistan. Now seeing PIA’s punctuality track record it will be interesting to see how PIA will make this work and also how PIA will deal with the mess in case there are disruptions.
