Shaheen Air International (SAI) is planning to restart its operations in early 2019 after it ceased operations due to various pending payment issues. Shaheen has been grounded for the past five months after defaulting on its payments. Shaheen will restart operations on the routes it was operating before the grounding.SAI owned by the Sehbai family is exploring in various directions including the option of arranging to finance from their friends and other resources. The interim management is trying to bring some sense to the operations and prepare the airline for the resumption of operations.
At the same time, SAI is working with local travel agents to manage the situation and retrieve stuck revenue from them which came to around 50-70 per cent of the needed money. It is too early to divulge the exact details of the financial deal but it will enforce a lot of belt-tightening within the airline and as a result, a lot of lavish arrangments of the past will not be allowed to continue.
