Pakistan International Airlines has issued a tender notice to acquire up to 8 narrow-body aircraft to replace its Airbus A320s that coming to the end of their lease period. PIA had 12 Airbus A320s in its fleet but one A320 crashed in Karachi leaving the airline with 11 functional aircraft. PIA plans to induct an Airbus A320 AP-BMY in near future from ALAFCO. The tender mentions the age of aircraft should not be more than 8 years old.

The tender requires bidders to send sealed bids for aircraft that are no older than 2012. The planes must have 170 plus seats in two rows. The delivery schedule is between January 2021 and December 2021 meaning the airline expects to receive these aircraft in next year as and when it requires. The deadline for depositing the bids is 25 January 2021.

PIA has two planes that have their lease agreements coming to an end next year. AP-BLB, AP-BLC was leased in June and July 2014. While AP-BLA, AP-BLW and AP-BLV were leased in May 2015. AP-BLC, AP-BLT and AP-BLU were leased in June 2015. Then AP-BLZ was leased in September and AP-BLY was leased in December 2015. So all of these planes are going out of PIA fleet in the coming year and PIA is looking to replace these through the new lease agreements.
