Pakistan International Airlines has announced to re-route or cancel multiple flights from Lahore International airport. Due to dense fog and the fact that Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority forgot to or thought not to calibrate the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the country’s major airports. On 3rd December 2021 PCAA announced that (ILS) facilities were made unavailable at airports of Pakistan due to their overdue calibration tests. Not only PIA but domestic airlines like Airblue and Serene Air and many international airlines coming to Lahore or flying from Lahore have changed their schedules.

Pakistan International Airlines announced that its PK9716 Madina to Lahore on 15 December 2021 will be diverted to Islamabad International Airport.

The following flights will be effected on the 16th of December

PK9743 from Lahore to Madina will now depart from Islamabad to Madina.
PK9712 from Jeddah to Lahore will now arrive at Islamabad from Jeddah.
PK9739 from Lahore to Madina will now depart from Islamabad to Madina.
PK203 from Lahore to Dubai will now depart from Islamabad to Dubai.
PK234 from Dubai to Lahore will now arrive at Islamabad from Dubai.

Notification from PCAA stated that “Radio navigation aids of the types covered by the specifications in D3 and available for use by aircraft engaged in international air navigation shall be the subject of periodic ground and flight tests. The guidance on the ground and flight testing of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard facilities require specific periodicity of the testing is contained in Attachment C and in the Manual on Testing of Radio Navigation Aids (MNL-002-ARTS).”
