Pakistan International Airline has formally established its engineering sub base at Islamabad International Airport. This step is taken to provide necessary maintenance at Islamabad airport where the airline aims to increase its presence. This way the airline will save the expenses incurred on sending its aircraft to Karachi for maintenance. PIA former CEO Musharraf Rasool Cyan initiated this plan and also secured funds for the development of hanger and maintenance facilities during his tenure.

It was also revealed as part of the same plan that PIA “wants to use the new Islamabad airport as its hub and the airline is in the process to develop its base at this facility”. PIA statement claimed that engineers performed an A check on Airbus A320 AP-BLB. This is not the first time the PIA Engineering & Maintenance has performed A check. On 7 August 2018 PIA Engineering & Maintenance performed A check (12 yearly checks) on one of its Airbus A320 Aircraft AP-BLW.

Today PIA issued a statement which stated that this faciltiy will also provide support to other airlines using Islamabad airport. CEO PIA Air Marshal Arshad Malik said that similar faciltiy will be established in Lahore.
